Back by popular demand! Last July Alison Bigg led us through the process for making prints from solar plates. We’ve asked her to return, to learn more, to practice, and to generally celebrate this novel form of making prints from specially coated metal plates. The sun does it all! This workshop may be dependent
on sourcing plates following a supply chain issue.
In this workshop we will:
Learn the steps and options when making a transparency of your image - when using a photograph, a drawing or a painting.
Talk about using the solar plate for intaglio and/or relief printing and the use of an aquatint screen.
Make tests and plates using the sun and and/or a UV exposure box. develop the plate, hardening it ink the plate in relief and intaglio.
Make proof prints of the plate and one good print, and talk about doing an edition.
We will supply plates, paper, inks. We will send more information about reference materials and plate sizes closer to the date.
